I recently attended the Unravel Knititng and Fibre Festival at the Farnham Maltings. At the show I launched my latest design , Lang Waistcoat, which is knitted in Lang Yarns Mille Colori although it could be knitted in a range of gradual colour change yarns.
The waistcoat is knitted in garter stitch using a modular knitting technique so there is no sewing up. The sections are knitted and joined continuously and the whole garment is edged with I-cord.
Pattern correction
For people who bought the pattern on the day and took it away with them there is a correction to the pattern. Under the Left Front Neck shaping, Increase Row 2 should read '(WS) k1tbl, knit to last 2sts, kfb, yf, sl
2009 promises to be another busy year. I have been booked to teach a number of hand and machine knititng workshops as well as talks to machine knititng clubs, Weavers, Spinners and Dyers Guilds and other groups. For more details see the 'Events' page
I will be attending a number of knititng exhibitions over the year incuding the new Knititng and Fibre Festival, 'Unravel' at Farnham Maltings on 21st February where I will be running a knititng surgery all day. For more details of this event go to Unravel
During 2008 I designed a Fair Isle beret pattern for the new Internet magazine The Inside Loop The pattern is available from their website under 'Arcives' and is called Frances Beret.
I have added a number of new patterns to the patterns page including a couple of free patterns for fingerless mittens. As well as developing my own patterns I write for a couple of knititng magazines. Most of the time I write articles and patterns for 'Knitting' magazine but in the past year I have also had patterns published in 'Let's Knit' and articles published in 'Yarn Forward'
As well as writing for magazines I am continuing to develop new workshops and talks for both hand and machine knititng. The 'Talks' and 'Workshop' pages list all the talks and workshops I currently offer.
Courses
Hand Knitting
The next City and Guilds 7922 Certificate Course in Hand Knit Textiles will started again in January 2009. (Dates for the course are listed on the Events page). The course runs one Sunday a month at The Mohair Centre, near Lewes, E. Sussex. You can contact me (Fiona) on 01329 313929 for more details on the course.

Machine Knitting
I have been booked to give a number of talks and demonstrations for various machine knitting clubs around the country. I am also teaching at the Machine Knitters Dream Week in September. For more information about where I am booked to talk see the Events page.
