Patchwork Squares Bag

Patchwork Squares Bag

Squares BagAs the name suggests this pattern uses the patchwork squares technique. Each large square is made up of 4 small squares. The larger squares are joined together with garter stitch and the two sides of the bag are joined with a garter stitch band which forms a gusset and the handle. All the pieces are knitted onto each other so there is only one very small seam to sew where the two ends of the gusset join.

Squares Bag 2The pattern can be made in any yarns. The bag in the picture was made using a variety of Colinette yarns; Point Five, Wigwam, Skye, Chrysalis and Tagliatelli and knitted on a 6.5mm needle. If finer yarns are used the bag will be smaller.
